The Pink Rhino

Posted on September 3, 2023September 3, 2023 by pewpewturtlegirl

There are so many options out there for trying to figure out what you are doing with a gun.

Pink Rhino is a dry fire snap cap that when the firing pin strikes the back of this nifty little thing, it lights up a laser for just a second.

Now I’m cheap. There are little targets and cool gadgets on Amazon, but for me? I grabbed an extra target from the range, taped it to a door and got to practicing. I tried different feet placement, tried different hand placement.

One thing the little lightbulb that blinks paperwork said was if the light smears, then you wiggled the gun. Well, hell. That made sense. Make it steady, make it go where you want. And do it again. And again. And again.

Now, all that’s good and fine with dry fire. I needed to figure out a plan for live fires. To reddit!!

People are awesome when you give them a chance. Turns out, I’m probably overly anticipating the recoil (um, that’s 100% what I’m doing) but there’s ways to manage that.

The most valuable thing I learned, triggers have a wall. Yeah, you seasoned shooters are looking at this line with a “well no shit, newb” look, I know. But this was news to me, so please, if you ever take a newbie out, explain that to them. I spent every trigger pull up until this information was dropped cringing, not really knowing when the big boom was coming. Now I know exactly where it happens, and there’s no point in pre-cringing.
